World Book Day Celebration 2026!
World Book Day Celebrations 2026
Our school had a wonderful time celebrating World Book Day on 5th March 2026. The excitement was clear from the moment the children arrived, proudly dressed as their favourite book characters! Throughout the day, the school bell rang at surprise intervals to signal DROP – Drop Everything and Read, giving everyone a chance to pause and enjoy a good book together.
Our P2 and P7 pupils teamed up for a special reading buddies session, while P1–P3 enjoyed a fantastic live Zoom event with author and illustrator Johnathan Sung, creator of Moon Moon Can’t Sleep! His interactive session was a real highlight for our younger children.
Our P5 class also ventured out to visit Newtownbutler Cross Community Playgroup, where they read stories to the little ones and helped spread a love of books beyond our school community.
The celebrations continued on Monday 9th March when we welcomed local author Natalie Brady to our school. She read her newly published book "Oh Deary Me", and the children loved hearing the heartwarming tale of a lost toy with a very happy ending.
It was a fantastic week full of imagination, creativity and, most importantly, a shared love of reading.
