Visit from Bishop Duffy
We were honoured to welcome Bishop Duffy to our school to mark Catholic Schools Week 2026. The whole school gathered in the hall the welcome the Bishop, along with Deacon Sherry, Fr Kevin and the Chairperson of our Board of Governors, Mr Casey. Our two P7 student councillors commenced proceedings, with Anna making a welcome speech and Shea presenting the Bishop with a Camilla plant to remind him of our school. Fr Kevin led opening prayers and then each class did a presentation on their chosen Saint, on the theme of ‘ordinary lives called to holiness’. The Bishop then spoke to the children and blessed us all. The P7 class were delighted to have a special visit from the Bishop, where they had an opportunity to ask him some questions and demonstrate what they have begun learning in preparation for Confirmation. The Bishop told us he was very impressed with the children of St Mary’s, particularly on their interest, knowledge and their enthusiastic welcome. Well done everyone.
