To celebrate Science Week NI and our Vikings topic P6 took on a STEM challenge to create Viking longboats out of classroom materials.
The children first had to use problem solving skills to identify the problem in front of them, think of possible designs they could create and identify the best materials for their ships.
Next, they had to use their creativity and innovation skills to think outside the box and develop original designs and practical thinking.
P6 also further developed their teamwork and communication skills as they worked in pairs to design and build their boats.
Lastly they had to think critically about their boats and ask the question, Why did this happen??
Well done P6, we definitely have some future engineers on our hands!
