Looking after your physical and mental health!!

19th Mar 2020

During this unpredictable period, it is important that children, parents and staff stay on top of their physical and mental health. How can we do this? 1. Take breaks between work. 2. Go for a walk/ run/ cycle daily. 3. Establish routine in your life e.g. sleep patterns, drinking water and positive eating habits. 4. Reduce screen time and social media time- it has been said that too much scrolling and flicking through news stories is damaging for your mental health. Don't let it bombard you and remember that there is a lot of fake news out there. Focus on the positive. It can be overwhelming updating news stories constantly when it's always out there and the topic of conversation on people's lips. 5. Practice gratitude daily and encourage this in our children. At this time, we really should be grateful for loads of things. Some people even believe this is the world telling us to show more gratitude and to slow down. Activity- write one/two things that we are grateful for each day in a diary or store them in a gratitude jar. Gratitude is linked to positive mental health. 6. Simple- be kind!! Write a letter to an older friend or relative, help with their groceries or prescriptions (if you can). 7. Prayer- there is so much power in prayer. Pray for your own intentions and others' intentions. Take care everyone and look out for each other.
